What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based Web-content syndication format used to deliver constantly updated headline feeds to readers. Our RSS feeds deliver headlines and links back to Press Releases of the National Statistical Service of Greece. The latest headlines and news arrive in your Feed Reader as soon as they are published without having to visit the website you have taken the feed from.

An 'RSS Feed' or 'News Feed' allows you to be alerted when content that interests you is published on a website. By subscribing to a Feed, latest news and headlines appear automatically in your News Reader, without having to visit every site individually.

Once you have your Feed Reader, you can add the RSS feeds of the sites that syndicate thier content. Many sites display a small icon with the acronyms RSS, XML, or RDF to let you know a feed is available. To subscribe to a feed you can do one of the following:
  • Drag the orange RSS button into your News Reader
  • Drag the URL of the RSS feed into your News Reader
  • Cut and paste the URL of the RSS feed into your News Reader
